Enters new market with large Malaysian telco MAXIS
Summary
We are pleased to announce a new partnership agreement with MAXIS, one of Malaysia's largest telecommunications providers, to launch our HeroPlay gaming product into the Malaysian market. This is a significant milestone for SportsHero, marking our entry into a fourth major SE Asian telco partnership and our third target market in the region.
MAXIS brings access to approximately 10.8 million customers, and their full marketing support will be directed at promoting HeroPlay to this customer base. Subscribers will be able to access our full gaming catalogue through Direct Carrier Billing, a payment method that is particularly well-suited to the region given the prevalence of unbanked consumers. Importantly, Malaysia's stronger economy supports subscription pricing that is expected to be 2.6x to 3.2x higher than in Indonesia, which we anticipate will improve our overall revenue per user over time. Revenue will be shared 65% to SportsHero and 35% to MAXIS, with no minimum subscription commitments required.
Malaysia itself is a compelling market, with near-universal mobile and internet penetration, a gaming industry projected to grow from US$1.1 billion to US$2.3 billion by 2034, and rapidly expanding digital payments adoption. Integration work begins immediately, with the platform expected to go live in the December quarter.
With four telco partners now in place across Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, our combined distribution network reaches an estimated 236 million customer accounts. We believe this partnership further validates our regional growth strategy and the appetite for the HeroPlay product.
